Watch Kylie & Kris Jenner Shower a Group of Inspiring Young Women With Nearly $1 Million in Gifts on ‘Ellen’
Kylie Jenner and her mom Kris completed a stealthy philanthropic mission on the season 17 premiere of The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday, as the young makeup mogul surprised a fellow businesswoman and her friends with $750,000.
Kylie Jenner announced a few weeks back that she would be giving away a portion of the proceeds from her Kylie Cosmetics Birthday Collection to a deserving recipient. Samantha Gil, the 27-year-old founder of a nonprofit women’s empowerment group in Miami called Nest of Love, and her 10 friends were not expecting the gifts they were about to receive.
Gil and her friends waited backstage at the Ellen show, thinking they were invited to shoot the season 17 promo — but then the Jenner duo and DeGeneres popped up on the TV screen and invited them onstage to talk about Nest of Love.
Gil strives to increase the number of strong female role models in her community with weekly mentoring and sponsored back-to-school events. On the show, she opened up about the impetus for such a cause: Her mother gave birth to her at 17, her grandmother helped raise her, and her father wasn’t in the picture.
“For me, it’s just like helping other girls that have been in my same similar situation,” she said.
But she still wasn’t aware what was happening until DeGeneres announced that Kylie Jenner wrote Nest of Love a check for $150,000 to start off the gift giving, leaving her and the organization’s main members Daniela Villa and Briana Grumet crying tears of joy. With a huge check on the women’s laps, the Jenner matron juggled the next present on her lap: $100,000 in cash personally for Gil disguised in the Kylie Cosmetics Birthday Collection box.
The rest of their company came onstage for the final round of gifts, which were $50,000 checks personally for every woman along with the actual birthday makeup kit, bringing on a flood of tears with the good news.
