In the grand scheme of things, it hasn’t been that long since Taylor Swift released a music video. But to her fans, it’s pretty much been an eternity.
The wait ended at midnight eastern time Friday, when the pop superstar releases the music video for “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” — a duet with former One Direction member Zayn Malik. The R&B-inspired tune is part of the soundtrack for the film “50 Shades Darker,” a sequel to 2015’s “50 Shades of Grey.”
The passion-fueled project was shot at London’s St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel, and the result is dark and smoldering. Both singers battle a series of emotions as they belt out the lyrics to the song that’s about love and heartache.
Swift and Zayn star as their own versions of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey as they sing, brood and angstily break furniture in their dark hotel rooms. The video is overall sultry, clearly taking inspiration from Fifty Shades Darker itself.
