Major Lazer’s “Cold Water” ft. Bieber & MØ holds at No.1 for third straight week

Major Lazer’s “Cold Water,” featuring Bieber & MØ, holds at No. 1 for third straight week. Plus, debut set from British pop band Blossoms tops U.K. albums chart.

North of England pop outfit Blossoms have a U.K. No. 1 album. Their eponymous debut for EMI/Universal has entered the Official Chart Company survey at the top, some 9,500 equivalent sales ahead of British rapper Giggs’ new entry at No. 2, Landlord (SN1). “Cold Water” (Because Music), by U.S. electronic outfit Major Lazer featuring Justin Bieber and MØ, started a third week atop the singles chart.

Drake’s Views (Cash Money/Republic/Universal) moved back 4 on the new chart, as ELO’s former chart-topper, the All Over the World compilation (Epic/Sony), fell 2-4. Last week’s new entry at No. 1, Viola Beach’s self-titled set on Because Music, dropped to No. 5. There was further fresh British talent entering the top 10 in the form of indie-rock outfit Wild Beasts, new at No. 9 with Boy King (Domino) and Canterbury, Kent-based emo band Moose Blood in at No. 10 with their sophomore set Blush (Hopeless).

The Major Lazer single, with its guest appearance by Bieber, prevented the Canadian star from debuting at No. 1 with another song. “Cold Water” had combined chart sales for the week of 93,000, some 23,000 units ahead of “Let Me Love You” (Interscope/Universal) by DJ Snake featuring Bieber. The latter track was the top-selling download of the week, with 40,000 copies, but Major Lazer had the highest streaming total, to remain at the summit.

Calum Scott’s “Dancing On My Own” (Instrumental) fell a place to No. 3 on the new official singles chart, as did “Perfect Strangers” (Positiva/Universal) by Jonas Blue featuring J.P. Cooper at No. 4 and Chainsmokers’ “Don’t Let Me Down” (Disruptor) at No. 5. The other new title within the top ten was Ohio duo twenty one pilots’ “Heathens” (Atlantic/Warner Music), which rose 20-9.
