Lady Gaga shared a series of videos on Snapchat of herself getting tatted up in Hollywood on Feb. 14, just one day before the Grammy Awards, where she’s set to perform a tribute to the late music icon David Bowie.
Lady Gaga’s lastest tattoo is in honor of David Bowie, who passed away from cancer last month. The tattoo — which is of David Bowie’s Aladdin Sane album cover — is on Gaga’s left side, and was done by famed tattoo artist Mark Mahoney at Shamrock Social Club. We’ve got to say, he did an amazing job!
”This was the image that changed my life” Gaga captioned one of her videos on Snapchat. We can totally see how the “Born This Way” singer has been inspired by Bowie throughout her career, beginning with the period surrounding her first album, The Fame, during which Gaga sported lightning bolt makeup similar to Bowie’s. Tonight, the popstar will perform an 8-minute tribute to Bowie, and he will posthumously receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
We can’t think of anyone better to commemorate Bowie tonight. Lady Gaga spoke about her love for Bowie just a few days before his death: “I always felt that Bowie’s glamor was something he was using to express a message to people that was very healing for their souls” she said. “He is a true, true artist…I just know that you can use the theater of your imagination to entertain people beyond their wildest dreams and then you can put something inside of that that changes the world, and that to me is when you make something truly great as an artist.” We’re pretty sure that she’s going to do an unforgetable job with her performance.
